Learning Centres
Equitable access to learning English in East-Timor.
The Why?
Our learning centres - do not replace school for children. Rather they offer children the opportunity to attend FREE extra lessons in learning English.
Why Project Tmore Matters in Timor-Leste
Education is one of the most powerful tools for building a stronger future. In Timor-Leste, where many communities continue to face limited employment opportunities and restricted access to further education, learning English can open doors that were previously out of reach.
Project Tmore’s English learning centres provide free education for children and affordable classes for adults, creating opportunities for people of all ages to develop skills that can transform their futures. Our centres are run by locals, for locals, ensuring that knowledge, employment, and leadership remain within the community.
Creating pathways to education and employment
English is an international language used in education, tourism, business, technology, and many professional industries around the world. For young Timorese, English skills can provide greater access to scholarships, universities, vocational training, and employment opportunities both locally and internationally.
By improving English confidence, students are better equipped to participate in a global economy, communicate with international organisations, and access information and resources that can support their personal and professional growth.
Building local jobs and skills
Project Tmore is not only about teaching English — it is also about creating employment opportunities. Our centres provide work for local teachers, administrators, and support staff, while developing a skilled workforce that can contribute to Timor-Leste’s future.
When communities have access to quality education, they are better positioned to create businesses, attract investment, support tourism, and develop industries that rely on skilled communication and leadership.
Supporting equitable access to learning
Many families in Timor-Leste cannot afford additional education outside of the public school system. By providing free children’s programs and low-cost adult education, Project Tmore helps reduce barriers and ensures that learning opportunities are available based on potential, not financial circumstances.
Education has a ripple effect: a child who learns English today may become a teacher, entrepreneur, community leader, or professional who creates opportunities for others tomorrow.
Strengthening Timor-Leste’s future
As Timor-Leste continues its journey of national development, investing in people is essential. A skilled, educated, and confident population strengthens communities, improves economic participation, and helps build a more connected nation.
Project Tmore exists because we believe that education is not simply about learning a language — it is about creating opportunity, independence, and hope. Through the support of our international sponsors and the dedication of local educators, we are helping build a future where more Timorese people can access the opportunities they deserve.
Educational Programs in progress...
Project tmore Learning Centres
Project tmore is already on the ground and planting learning centres. Our centres are run by local teachers, funded by Australian businesses, schools and individuals. Local children, teens and adults can attend afternoon English classes to help build language skills. Centres are provided with resources, equipment, furniture and paid teachers.
Ready to open our 3rd centre in Maliana, Timor-Leste. Find out more about our first 2 centres.
Project tmore + SEFOPE + PALMS
Project Tmore and Sefope have built a working relationship with one another. Project Tmore needs English trained locals. While Sefope teachers Adults English and supports participants in gaining work in Australia as part of the PALMS Program.
Our plan is to employ Local English Trained Adults to Teach in Project Tmore Learning Centres.
1. This creates jobs in Timor for local people
2. This offers them the opportunity to stay in Timor with their families and not have to leave the country to work.
3. Contributing to stable employment, local education and community drive centres, building capacity and opportunities for local adults and children in each Municipality.
Project tmore Libraries
Future projects that are in the works.
Looking into opening Libraries around Timor for schools, learning centres and convents to have educational resources that build literacy and equitable access to learning materials.
